Milk fever and Kiamsiap*stingy* auntie

This week been busy doing the presentation slide for clinical pathology. The question for my group is milk fever...

Milk Fever is a disease in cow with hypocalcemia during peripartum period that would cause death within a day if it's very severe and no treatment give. *sound serious right?*

Hemogram is needed for the presentation but actually is very difficult to get the whole blood result due to milk fever is a common and emergency case which treatment is needed once the clinical sign is observed. Sending blood to clinical pathology lab is one of the diagnostic work-out but usually is not needed, history and clinical sign would be more than enough.

We are lucky enough to be able to find a journal that give full hemogram about Milk Fever. And together with lots of other journal reading, we share about what we know about Milk Fever, the clinical sign, the treatment control, prevention, pathophysiology and interpretation of the hemogram

The purpose of writing this is to share some of the journal that I've found online and for who need it, would be very happy to find out this *just like when I found the journal with hemogram (happy me~)*, and for those that don't need it, will think that it's wasting of time to read this! *Oh yes! I successfully wasted your time for minutes! *  Haha.

This is the picture of my group member for this presentation. The "Dr. Frimpong and Cik Zaleha!", and me "Dr. Budak Kecoh". (The identity used in presentation that create so much fun in the interaction between speakers and audience.)

Woah, I wear skirt!
Haha, you have no idea how seldom I wear formal skirt in the faculty. Presentation is the only excuse I can use to wear this formal skirt that would make this skirt more worth the price! *Kiamsiap* *Typical auntie* And I like this skirt!

Notice the shoes I wore in the pic?
It's discount item that I bought from Padini Group Fair in Sogo.
Yeah, I purposely go there. *hyperactive!*

It's nice right? it is 50% less, the price from 50 cut to 25. (roughly)

<3 checkered box shirt. I don't remember the price of the left one already. It's either 50% or 70% less. the other one discount 70%.

Yala, I know, Padini always having sales and sometime will doubt on the price before less. Like the shirt on the right *I bought it because monkey has the same kind of shirt that has same kind of checkered box pattern, romantic me (ignore me please) * , before less, it is rm100. I personally don't think the quality worth 100.

another thing, Does it worth to go next time?
I would not purposely go for it la, but if it is just nearby, Why not? But don't bring high expectation. *Last time the Triumph bra clearance sale makes me expect more than what the padini group fair offer.* *but nevermind, I got my new shoes~~~

Rest please

There are a lot type of moments,

The awkward moment when you said Goodbye to someone and you two walk off in the same direction.
the sad moment when I realize the shoes I wish to buy is out of stock of MY SIZE *if the shoes is cheap and pretty and super worthy, that make me feel even worse* *sad case*

and another sad moment for the Man United fans when Man City won the Premier League.

the angry moment when you are on your halfway back from shopping and you realize you forgot to buy the things that make you go shopping.

the happy moment when your crush just smile to you.

the annoying moment when people shake their legs and you got distracted at the time you need to focus on something. *nothing is worse than vibration level of leg shaking* *stupid me*

and at this moment, it's the moment I realize my immune system is activated to fight against the pathogen, pyrogen and etc. In other words, I can feel i am getting fever soon. The throat is getting more sore, and is tired all the time, feel cold and other signs that myself recognize it as the symptom of getting fever soon.

The rule of thumb for myself to survive in the study, YEAH, SURVIVE! is not to get sick/ be sick.

Have so many things to do in this week,
  1. Small ruminant assignment about a breed of goat (I forgot i choose which breed but I remember the due date is this coming thursday *tahi!!!* )
  2. Tomorrow will have this surgery course, and will play the role as anesthetist, which mean I can't be away from the surgery table and gonna be a stressful day tomorrow *wish me luck and all the best!*
  3. Clinical pathology assignment and presentation which take 20% of the total mark! And it would be on Thursday.
So, my brain keep telling my body: " Chia Lin, you are not allowed to be sick, you either die or finish all the works!"

As in I can control my body from not being ill. *like a sir*
So, I pill myself with a lot vitamin C tablet, drink a lot water until the stage of polyuria, stop eating fried food, will eat oat tomorrow *healthy wey~*
And this is the moment I realize what I need the most is

REST

A rest for a longer journey ahead. Totally worth it!
That doesn't sound like an excuse at all!

How to not snooze the alarm

Wooooah... finally finish test 2 which carry at most 30% of our total marks. And i'm, like, making it a big deal.

But actually it is.

I have no idea how the seniors actually survive, (i'm in third year which is the last year of being able to enjoy the time after class *5pm*, because for the following 2 years, we have to do rotation which means less sleep, less sing K opportunity, and more time for gossip *alamak*) . oh yeah, continue.

Maybe it's time to learn time management or how to NOT SNOOZE THE ALARM!
oh yeah, you are right.

seriously, any idea? except ask my mum to stay in college with me.

I calculated already, the time i would save if I not snooze the alarm and wake up once the alarm ring, I would have 45 mins more each day, not during exam, and hours more each day , during exam week.

Actually there are few methods that quite effective that I think would only work in my home. I used that during my form 6 study which is the most hardworking time that I ever had.

  1. Ask your mum to wake you up.  Joking la (but you know that works, right!) Switch the alarm off after you walk away from the bed.
  2. Drink immediately once you are awake. I'm not sure whether it's proved useful not, but "they" say can help you to set your biological alarm.  and it was ONCE proven very effective on me. After enter university, no more.
  3. Exercise a bit after you wake up.  You know that works!

but you see, I'm staying in college and unfortunately my roommate is a light sleeper unlike me, sleep like a pig and nothing would wake me up except cockroach. *that's not true! lol*

so, being a person with a lot excuse considerate roommate, I shall not practice all these in college. So, I end up sleep late. #sleep is important for memory building and enhancement! so, not too bad what. OPTIMISTIC ME!

LAST BUT NOT LEAST

4. DETERMINATION
are you kidding me?!

haha! that's the main point! things could not be done without determination and determination is needed to succeed! *at least in not snoozing the alarm for more than 3 times.

So good luck people!

oh yeah, mind to share if you have any way not to snooze the alarm?

Post exam syndrom

Here is the trend. For the first few hours walked out from the bilik seminar (which is the room where we had our TEST!!! ) , we will be depressed, sad especially when we realize our answer is not the same with other people (or din even make it to fill in the answer).

and after 2 hours or a meal, it would be like...
Did we just have test?

Yeah! everything back to normal again.. or maybe more cheerful. And for today, it's definitely more special. Time is precious, so, we have fun while waiting for the queue during practical.

Meet soon, the cow. The crazy vet and Me, the nurse

A closer view to let you see we really practice on restraining, for jugular venipuncture. wth.

One of the friend put a caption : this is how he thinks it is. LAME~~~ but funny. lol
Photos of we got frightened by a dummy dog.
AAAAAAH MAAAAA ya~~~

No NO NOO NOOOO, you are not gonna bite me!
and yeah. so 1 more hour to the end of post exam syndrome and there are another 2 tests on thursday n friday.

Y UPM So Many Tests?

the person who will be there when you need them the most

Wa.. the title is so long. haha.

Who comes across your mind when you think of the person that have always been there when you need help?
Boyfriend? Girlfriend? Family?
It would be great if you have them with you, maybe not staying together, but at a short distance, then you would not have a problem when you need help because they, especially family, no doubt would be there when you need help.

However, I'm staying far away from my hometown. Thus, when there is emergency, they could not help me except giving me moral support and advice. But still, I appreciate that. =D I would try not to call them when I have problem need to deal, some small problem, such as I lost my car key in the faculty. Surprisingly I was quite rational in making this decision not to call them until I've found my car key. Eventually, I found it after 2 days (or 3 days?? whatever) in the lecture room. I misplaced it. =P Luckily didn't call them to send the other pair of car key. =D

And BA, MA, you are still the people i respect the most! *even though i didn't call you =P*

So, in these 3 years of study, I've survived with the helps of my friends.

And the recent case again reminded me to appreciate that there are friends when I need help. Thank you.
Here's the story.

If you are one of the student from University of Putra Malaysia or you ever heard of the most famous fact about UPM, you should be familiar with the complaint of us having too many tests. For example, this semester, I took 7 subjects, each course will have 3 tests, so there will be minimum 21 papers (because we have first test, second tests and final), and not yet include oral test, lab test and assignment. In 14 weeks of study, we have to survive from all these. *haih*

And damn bad luck me got DIARRHEA in this critical moment. For the first time in my 23 years of life, I've experienced what people said OOOOOO gou geok yuan. Get up from the toilet bowl never been this energy consuming.
Diarrhea for the whole night and there is a test which carry FOUR credits later on which is veterinary anesthesiology and surgery. and I not yet finish even once (normally I would repeat study 2 times la before the tests)  *die la me*
And at this moment, they appear like ANGELS ~<3

ooooosh! perfect timing!
*actually it was taken before test, motivate myself I CAN DO THIS!*
I didn't expect anyone to take care of me while I'm sick. *it's just diarrhea, sound so not a big deal at all* haha. But really thank you for teman me to PKU, drive me back to college while i feel dizzy and wanna vomit, message and call to make sure i'm still alive, and ask me not to pretend for sympathy. wth. That's called friends.
Home cooked porridge by xue qi to a diarrhea people

Some may say friendship is the fake-st relationship ever, where it only exist when there are benefits.
But for me, friendship is not just like that. It is built up with trust, understanding and helping each other, of coz, fun. It's fun to be with your gang of friends who truly understand you. I'm glad that I've found them in my university life.

another moral value, don't take things for granted. Be thankful when they help. Sometime, it's better to live without expectation, don't expect people to treat you nice, don't expect people to do what you think a good friend should do, and with less expectation, life is better.  =D let small little things in life surprise you. =D
Sandy the witch, poor make up by me. =D
Friends forever.
