Update #1: The terrible experience in a hair saloon in Butterworth, Penang

If you are a girl, I'm sure there will be at least 1 hair salon that YOU EXPERIENCED at least once UNFAIR CHARGERS or UNSATISFACTORY SERVICE. and so do I. But this is intolerable to me. So I wrote this.

Please read the first post if you haven't, because this post relates with the first post.

So, after I wrote that first blog post, the next day, the owner of the hair salon (also the hair stylist that do my hair) facebook messaged me.

In the previous post, I did not write any sentence that me conclude that the hair stylist actually lies to me. So, in his point of view, even himself reading my post, he feels like actually he was cheating? Or did he indirectly cheat that he didn't even realise, and only realised it after reading my blog and know what my feeling is?  I don't know. They said it's difficult to read a girl's mind, and I think, man's mind is hard to read as well, or a businessman's mind?

This revokes my anger mode again. What does he mean that I CAN SAY HE CHARGES HIGH, BUT CAN NOT SAY HE CHEATS ME?  I actually prefer to refer this to he, himself. Not sure if he has other co-founder or what, so I don't use the word THEM.  I only have trust issue on HIM only.

And he offered me compensation.

What sort of compensation? Do you think at this point of time, by giving me back RM45 I would feel better, wipe this off from my  memory even after he messaged me,
You can say that we charge high, but you can not say we cheat you.

Bullshit.

and so, I drove to the hair salon and to take picture of that price list yang dikenali sebagai price list terbaru, dikenali sebagai the latest price list that only applicable for 31 days. and to have our conversation recorded as well in order to protect myself if I decided to take this to NCCC, National consumer complaint centre. and I will have more evidence.

Here's the price list

I highlight the price for my hair length in the red box.

No "promotion" words.
No 30% discount written
No stickers

He claimed that because the price list for hair colouring is written "RM140+", because the "+" sign, so, I was charged RM150, even after 30% discount, and the fact that he was so kind that he actually practice invisible discount and it is totally normal and it doesn't sound strange at all, and it shouldn't sound strange. Great. *rolled eyes*

And then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I spotted that the hair treatment price written on price list is RM140. Without the "+" sign, and he quoted me the price of RM150. My anger level spikes again. P.s: It's HAIR TREATMENT PRICE not hair colouring price. (Click THIS if you want to refer back to the scenario)

So, I asked him in facebook.

Dear clever readers, let's do a multiple choice question. Please circle the answer by referring to the conversation above.

Why did the hair studio want to charge Lynn Ong Chia Lin Rm 150 for hair treatment instead of RM140 written on the price list?
a. Because the hair studio has bad math calculation.
b. Because the hair studio actually purposely want to charge higher.
c. No answer, because it's not in the conversation.
d. All of the above.

He still claims he has clear conscience.

*roll eyes*

Next post will be up soon. I have read up the The Malaysia's Consumer Protection Act 1999. I didn't finish reading it. I only read the section that I think that may help in the situation like this.

We are not stupid, don't treat your customers as dumbass.

  1. Finally you are back...A BIG WELCOME back...I am an anonymous comment-or of your 10 Jan 2014 blog post. To work and to study is two different things...it is totally different life and have to deal it differently. Yes my daughter in Year 2 now...3 more years to go.
Back to your hair saloon....I believe when they started they have a higher price and that's why the 30% discount in the facebook. After sometime, no customer, so they reduce the price list but failed to remove the posting in the facebook. Basically it is the fault of the hair saloon. In fact they should give 30% discount to you and you will be able to recommend more friends to them. But if they decided not to, they're at the losing end...you will definitely tell your friends not to go there anymore. So they had lost one permanent customer ie you and many more future new customers by their own mistake.

  2. I think that he's just plainly a cheater. Just wanna take advantage of other people. I understand you because I've been cheated too by a salon in Johor. Not only she cheated, her service is so bad. I had a sensitive skin and because of her carelessness I had been having a bad reaction on my pierced ear. I will never go there in the future. No wonder she doesn't have many customers coming in..
